On June 28, Julia Bullock joined conductor Christian Reif for a special dedication to Michael Tilson Thomas performed from their home in Munich. The contribution was part of MTT25: An American Icon, the San Francisco Symphony’s online tribute to MTT in honor of the end of his twenty-five-yeartenure as music director. The husband and wife duo spoke to what the legendary conductor has meant to both of them throughout their careers. Christian—who worked closely with MTT during his three-year post as Resident Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra—expressed an admiration for MTT’s expertise on American composers, and so the couple chose to perform Ives’ song Berceuse.
