WQXR kicked off the New Year by announcing a list of 19 artists who they believe their audience will love, including Julia Bullock! Bullock is in good company amongst pianist Inon Barnatan, Louisville Orchestra Director Teddy Abrams, and many other notable musicians. Praising Bullock’s “unforgettable stage presence and [her] voice from heaven,” WQXR lauded the first performances of her season-long Met residency for displaying “consummate musical artistry and aesthetic delight” (WQXR). As being named an “Artist to Watch in the Upcoming Year” would suggest, Bullock’s 2019 is full with operatic engagements and musical projects, including the remaining two performances of her Met residency, the theatrical Schumann-inspired Zauberland at Paris’s Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, and the operatic adaptation of Charles Blow’s memoir Fire Shut Up in My Bones at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis.
