On September 13, Julia Bullock joined an impressive list of some of opera’s biggest stars in the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s virtual concert “For the Love of Lyric.” Led by world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming, the concert featured an enlightening and entertaining program of both familiar and lesser-known selections from the worlds of opera, Broadway, popular music, and more. Julia joined Ms. Fleming for a quirky and offbeat version of Mozart’s duet, “Sull’aria,” from Le Nozze de Figaro, performed over the video conferencing platform Zoom. Playing around with different backgrounds, typing the Italian text into Google Translate, and receiving texts from the flirty “Fi-Fi-Figaro,” the two sopranos gave this aria a modern, virtual twist. Watch the concert for free below!
